D Lap was built around one stubborn question: why don't Malaysian families have something they can all do together, where the kid is just as fast as the dad?
In 2019, our founder Hanz Ng took his children on a family holiday to Kending, Taiwan. There he discovered drift karting — and the look on his kids' faces stayed with him long after the trip ended.
After Malaysia reopened post-pandemic, Hanz brought his son to Sunway Lagoon to try the go-karts. His son was disappointed: too short for the height limit, too young for the speed. Hanz sat there frustrated, watching his kid sit out an experience he'd been excited about for weeks.
"Why doesn't Malaysia have drift karts that both children and parents can enjoy together?"
That question turned into D Lap. February 2023, we opened our first centre at Auto City Penang. The concept worked from day one — kids as young as 5 could safely drift, parents could actually compete with their children, and we hit business stability inside two weeks. We've been growing ever since.

Since September 2024, we've set up portable drift kart experiences at school charity events (义卖会) across Penang. Our way of giving back — every event raises money for the school and gives kids a first taste of drifting.
